Guns-out Now Program
Program Mission:
This program's mission is to make American communities safe by taking guns off the streets and out of our youth's hand and away from our communities and schools.
We Believe:
We believe that criminals and violent peoples are able to do their job, which is to be violent because, the tools and resources are there, in which we are providing to them. We have to stop being targets and stand-up for ourself, or we will continue to be the tools and resources. We also believe that if the government would get involved in the strategy to prevent this issue, then our alliance could be more powerful and accomplish more.
Program Goals:
The goals of this program is to:
- take 1,200 guns out of the neighborhods this program is present in;
- take guns out of young men hands and lead them to a different direction;
- increase community programs that teach about drugs, guns, and violence;
- decrease youth's access to guns;
- keep guns out of schools and other educational instituions; and
- reduce deaths caused by gun violence.
The Problems:
The problems that contribute to this issue include:
- the availability of guns to youth and gang members;
- weaks guns law and regulations of buying a gun;
- drugs and alcohol;
- gang related/involvement; and/or
- the lack of community programs and events.
Some Solutions:
Every area's rate of gun violence and crime may be different, so we didn't really strategize on this issue much but, we have come of with a few. They include:
- to strengthen guns laws and the system;
- build government programs into high gun violence areas;
- to provide jobs to youth in the ages 13 and above;
- to educate the kids about gun violence in school; and
- to build community centers in and around the neighborhood, so that the kids can have something accurate and fun to do.
